I dunno if you know that you're who I miss, but I miss ya.

The Green Day Project.
Nothing of serious significance. I'm just planning on making a file about Green Day.
To Kill A Mockingbird.
I've finished To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee (an American classic novel, by the way) just this morning. I actually just sort of skimmed through the last few chapters since I hated the part where Scout wears a ham costume (oooh, spoiler). Well, let's just leave it at that, since I don't want to spoil a lot more than you could allow me to spoil.
Anyways, I've got one word to sum up TKAM: BRILLIANT. The book was actually required reading for my English subject on First Year HS, but I was actually excited to discover that it was required reading. I've read John Grisham's 'A Painted House', and one of the reviews compared it to Huckleberry Finn and To Kill A Mockingbird. A Painted House is awesome, so TKAM must be better. After all, it IS a classic.
To Kill A Mockingbird is about many things, but basically, it's a simple story set in the rural Maycomb County. At first, the initial reaction of my classmates was that it was boring, but I begged to differ. I read the opening pages, and true enough, I barely understood the thing. But as the days went by, I discovered that TKAM was more than just a story about Maycomb County, Scout Finch, Jem Finch and all the other famous inhabitants. It was filled with short stories, presented in chapters, interconnecting. Everything is related to the other things. Which is what makes it brilliant: The subtle building up of the attitude, the plot, and the climax makes everything fall into place, the puzzle pieces fit.
I recommend you read TKAM.

September the Twentieth: An Account of The QCSHS 08-09 Family
As part of our school's (quite sucky) Foundation Celebration, QCSHS has planned a Family Day celebration on Sept. 20, 2008, from 8:00 a.m. until the afternoon. This day is actually quite better than the September 17 Foundation Day, which was filled with classes and stuff. But enough about about that. Let's get on to business.
From 8:00 a.m. till 9:30 a.m., there was a mass held on the covered court. I don't know the exact number of people that actually attended the mass, but I was sure of one thing: Every year level was scampering about, preparing for the next thing: The Field Demo. Here and there, first year students littered the building, the roads, everything. The other years stayed on their share of the roads.
And then we were called down, because the program was already starting. So there we were, sitting at the back of the covered court, where we should be. Booths were lined behind us, so some students (and watching parents) went to check out what's the fuss with the stuff on sale. I myself checked it out, but they turned out to be nothing much to write home about (although the booth with the junk food was really nice).
The demo for me was nothing to be excited. It was nice, the entrance, though (especially the Matrix thing by the bench boys). I actually made a few mistakes on the dance, but I caught up easily.
Many girls hurried on to the bathrooms to change clothes, and I was one of them. But I only changed my top, since it's required that we go wear green shirts. I still wore my sky blue jogging pants.
The Family Day celebration wasn't much of a fuss. Food, and then some little program. Some girls danced, some boys danced, and Tim and Grace performed with a song. There were quite a few set of games, all of which were boring. The best part was the awarding thing. I actually got a 'Best In English' ribbon. Shocking!

One of the most pointless blog posts EVER.

Crank Dat - Travis Barker Remix.
I've always, ALWAYS hated mainstream rap. With all the "ghetto" and the "bling bling" and making money, spending it on lowrider cars and bling bling and more bling bling and breaking the rules. A bane of the society, if you ask me. And 'Crank Dat' is NO EXCEPTION. But darn, it's hard to deny - Travis Barker actually made Crank Dat something worth listening to.
Well, the song ISN'T worth listening to, but Travis Barker's drumming is the thing you'd definitely HAVE to write home about.
Search it on YouTube. Don't mind the sucky Crank Dat song. Barker's work is something you should mind.

YOU WANT THE TRUTH? YOU WANT THE FREAKING, HONEST-TO-GOODNESS TRUTH?!
I've deleted the original message because it was too offensive.
Over the last week, I've been feeling down because of my sickness. And believe me, was I extremely down. And this rant is something I've made but I actually wasn't there for some firsthand experience. But honestly, everything I said isn't something to worry about. It's my opinion. What I feel. Here are the original concepts I've touched about:

- Manipulative PTA Officers - They mess around with the activities of the students (particularly our Bumayah dance and more recently, the Family Day celebration)
- Too much academic inclination of the school.
- Some annoying classmates.

'I Hope You Had the Time of Your Life': Bullet In A Bible Review.
Green Day is one of the best bands around, and many people can back up that claim. For many years, the trio has provided fans good music, and in 2005, they made history by releasing what Kerrang! had claimed to be 'the best show on earth': Bullet In A Bible. Filming full concert footage from their performance in England, plus a documentary, and anyone could easily agree about what Kerrang! said. We can't blame ourselves to actually agree with Kerrang! and half a dozen rock publications. Green Day is, after all, Green Day: the band with Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool. Oh, and did we mention that Green Day is also The Foxboro Hot Tubs and probably even the Network?
Even if the release was three years ago, Bullet In A Bible is still very much an interesting project to watch. Starting from the famous American Idiot to the heart-rending, 'everyone's-graduation-song' Good Riddance [Time of Your Life], Bullet In A Bible has more than enough to satisfy every Green Day fan's hunger. Even the untired-and-still-alive classic from January 1995, Basket Case, is here.
Bullet In A Bible is a DVD, we know that already. But the live album is also packaged with a 14-track disc of all their live performances in the DVD, if you prefer to listen to them instead of watching them. The wild, crazy Green Day attitude is showcased in the DVD, but there are also performances that actually capture your heart and want to make you cry (like Wake Me Up When September Ends, where Billie Joe visibly cries).
To make it short and sweet, Bullet In A Bible is more than proof that Green Day is still a force to be reckoned with.

Being Sick Is Tough.
For four straight days, I've been suffering from on-and-off fever, and it's just yesterday that I've been told that my fever is extremely high (39 degrees). Today, I'm absent from school because I can't go and risk another day getting my sickness to be absolutely worse. I hope I can cope up with the things I've missed...

'Tra-La-Laaa!' : The Joy of Captain Underpants (A Commentary On the World's First Superhero Who Fights For Everything Pre-Shrunk and Cottony).
Don't mind the ridiculously long title. It's this post that PROVES Captain Underpants isn't entirely as childish as it can be. In fact, anyone who would want an overdose of anything pre-shrunk and cottony would appreciate the misadventures this underwear-donning hero has. I never really expected myself to actually go nuts about such a book series, but here I am, saying these things, ranting and raving about what the series has to offer.
Books in the series start with a 'promotional comic' or 'the truth about Captain Underpants', introduced by the Captain Underpants comic book 'series'' alleged writers, Harold Hutchins and George Beard (who are non-existent and are living in the world Dav Pilkey has made). Dav Pilkey is a brilliant man, imagining what could be appropriate 'toilet humor' for those who want some.
Pilkey also made Super Diaper Baby, a companion for Captain Underpants.

Two YouTube Vids That Aren't Uploaded By Me and Are Extremely Nice.

Virtual Villagers: Extremely Short Opinion Thingy.
If you're an avid visitor of Yahoo! Games' download section, you'd be extremely familiar with the Virtual Villagers series, and you might have even tried downloading and playing it. I, myself, have downloaded the installer of the Virtual Villagers Free Trial, and I feel it to be extremely short, since time passes by so fast as you play the game.
Virtual Villagers is a pretty good game, to be honest. And since this IS a short opinion thing, it's extremely short, precisely a few words, lesser than a hundred.

Hate To Rain On Your Practice... Oh, Wait. On Second Thought, I'll Just Rain.
My head hurts. My feet ache. I've been jumping too much.
What's up with this blog post title? Well, here it is. The full story of today. Well, not exactly the full scoop, but half of it (the important bits).
Since we had to go practice for our cheesy Foundation Day aerobics trash, I went to school a bit earlier than the official arranged time and late from the class's arranged time.
Anyway, we were supposed to practice and were practicing, but it was the sophomores' turn to practice. So we went to the abnormally large soccer field of our school (it's so large, it's larger than my old school's gym) and practiced there. Practice there wasn't as efficient as we thought it could be, since the grass was a problem, and the soil was muddy wet. Then it rained.
Rained.
Rained.
Rained.
We were lucky it rained. It spared us from the practice. And all the while, two hours were spent messing around in our classroom. The best bit? The so-called "Avo Sport" we just invented. It may just be the official sport of our batch. It involves a person holding a meter-or-whatchamacallit-long stick and swinging it or sliding it to the ground round and round. The people within the reach of the stick must jump over it. It's the person swinging/sliding the stick's choice to determine the quickness of the stick. It was fun, and very active. I could play it all day.
And yeah, I still know that he's NOT his cousin. Duh. The way he chats, it BLOWS THE COVER.

Tricked... Or So He Thought.
I'm gonna give props to a guy friend. He almost, ALMOST completely fooled me in our chat in YM. But hey, he DOES know I know the way he chats, right? DOES HE KNOW I KNOW? I dunno. Anyways, the way he chatted was a dead give away. I almost was completely fooled, until... UNTIL he said 'ok ok' and the 'BRB' thingies and the 'bcoz' thingies and the 'BTW' things. I knew, at that moment, that it wasn't some other guy. It was HIM!

A Public Apology.
If you've been reading this blog for stuff about what's happening for me, and you didn't really see anything you'd want to see, I'm sorry. Not to be such a dictator, but I DO run this blog. I put stuff in it. Sorry, anyway.
And if ever something happens to me that's out of the ordinary, I have the honor as a retard to actually post it here. Have you seen my blog post about my grades? Yep. One of the things you'd actually read that matters.

Smoke and Mirrors: A Book Review.
Neil Gaiman is a master storyteller. That's exactly what I'm thinking right now. That's exactly what I believe. And that's exactly why I'm writing this book review: To prove that Gaiman is a really great storyteller.
The second Gaiman book I have read is Smoke and Mirrors: Short Fictions and Illusions. And as the subtitle suggests, it's a collection of short fictions and illusions. Why 'illusions'? Read the introductory chapter and find out. I don't want to spoil your fun, your amazement, so if you're a lazy reader-reviewer type, I'd suggest that you go get a copy of the book.
To those who want to know much of the details about the book, stay.
In my opinion, Smoke and Mirrors is every bit better than any Stephen King short story compilation. To be honest, I instantly lost my interest reading the first pages of a King book. Smoke and Mirrors starts with a brilliant introduction and ends with a brilliant story. I didn't really bother flipping to various stories in Nightmares and Dreamscapes by Stephen King.
Anyway, onto the content of Smoke and Mirrors. It definitely shows a lot about Gaiman: different story plots involving different characters with different traits. In short, it proves that Gaiman is flexible in storytelling, a feat mastered by (as far as I know) a few. I knew something was wrong when I read Rowling's books. I knew something was wrong when I read Stephenie Meyer's Twilight books. There isn't enough flexibility of the author to satisfy me. And it's this flexibility that I found in Smoke and Mirrors.
There are a lot of stories to satisfy everything people would want to read. From a unique and nice little tale about the Holy Grail being bought from a thrift shop, to Gaiman's take on the popular fairytale "The Three Billie Goats Gruff", and to the mythical tales about angels, which can surely be considered a modern myth sensation.
Granted, not every story can please. There are those people who would shy away from a story, being too explicit (you DO know what I mean). There would be those who'd like to cut to the chase and avoid long, winding intros in the story. I found myself reading most of the stories (I still haven't read the Desert Wind). But to be honest, all of Smoke and Mirrors' stories must be read if one can.
Of course, everyone has their notables. I'd list my top three short stories in ascending order here:
To sum it up, Smoke and Mirrors lives up to any Gaiman fan's expectations. Just don't expect the stories to be as windingly complex and twisty as Gaiman's novels. After all, they ARE short stories.

American Gods.
Yes. Preceding my upcoming review of Smoke and Mirrors by Neil Gaiman, I'm gonna post something about another Gaiman book I've just started reading: AMERICAN GODS.
Ever since I started reading Neverwhere by the same author, I've been officially hooked on Gaiman's works. I felt that each of the stories he has written is real. Fantastic. More than that typical Harry-Potter-style whimsy. Definitely a lot more entertaining in ways not even an imagination-less scholar could think or imagine. Neil Gaiman is the J.K. Rowling of adults and teens that can handle the ride. Even kids know how Gaiman does (check out Coraline, for example).
And now, after reading two of his books (Neverwhere and Smoke & Mirrors), I've been dying to read American Gods, which, judging by the book reviews I saw on the Internet, is supposed to have similarities with Neverwhere, my favorite Gaiman book EVER.
And now, I've started American Gods. So far, it's been nice (and definitely heavier than the other two Gaiman books I've read). The paper used for the pages and the smell, though, aren't anything to write home about. In fact, for me, part of the selling drive of the books are their smells and their weight and the paper quality. But we're here to talk about the story of the book and not the aesthetic quality now, aren't we?
Now, onto my thoughts about American Gods (take note that I have just started reading it and I'm not even close to halfway of the book). I was originally gonna be spending my not-so-hard-earned money on Rant by Chuck Palahniuk (thought I'd give Palahniuk's book a try, since PATD used quotes from a Palahniuk book on their first album), but since I have my trust on Gaiman, it's definitely gonna be American Gods first, Rant later.
The whole start was pretty nice. I particularly liked the raves about American Gods (I've always read those things) and the first few pages were nice. I'm probably expecting quite a lot from American Gods (it's hard to keep up with Neverwhere, after all), but I think it's still gonna be a blast, even though it's not even close to Neverwhere's plot skeleton.

Because I don't have any other thing to do, I just wanted to share a really nice video. The MV of Little Wonders by Rob Thomas. Hope you'd enjoy the nice video.
Fresh From The Oven: My Report Card.
This is gonna be a short, sweet record of what has happened today, September 11, 2008.
Aside from it being the anniversary (I don't know... 7th or 8th?) of the Twin Towers bombing and stuff. But I'm not exactly here to talk about that.
My report card is here, fresh from the oven. I'm pretty happy with my grades. My highest? English, with an average of 94. I've ALWAYS been high in English. Tailing close behind is Earth and Environmental Science, 92. My lowest? Surprise, surprise... FILIPINO. 85.

I Want To Go Back....
Ever since I graduated from my old school, I felt so weird and so... different. Recently, I was desperate to go back. I'm already a first year highschool student, and just recently graduated from elementary (in the Philippines, after you graduate elementary, you go to highschool). And it was entirely impossible to go back. My old school didn't run a highschool. It was only ECE and Elementary. The other branch of my old school runs highschool.
Anyway, I have for so long been wanting to go back. In this new school of mine, I don't seem to fit in. My classmates are all "this is his crush, that is her crush" and are keen on spreading some cheesy and annoying rumors. I've got a particular classmate who misinterprets EVERYTHING, or almost everything said to her. Really. I hate it.

I want to go back. I want to go back...
Psychological Impairment.
I've honestly nothing to write about. And to be honest, I'm really hotheaded. And I'm not able to cope with the stress properly.
I think... I HONESTLY think.... I have psychological problems.
I've been restless, sad for no reason, crying... I feel deranged. This is definitely bad. I think I have to see a psychologist.
I keep telling myself that I want to go back to my old school. I can't keep up with this freaking school I'm currently studying in.

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman - A Book Review
NEVERWHEREby NEIL GAIMAN
Neil Gaiman is a really great author. A lot of people already know that. His works are something to be reckoned with. His novels are amazing. His imagination intense and definitely a force to be reckoned with. And even as he's starting out, it's obvious that Gaiman has the power to hook you in his stories and never let go. Neverwhere is probably the best book he has ever written.
The story is about Richard Mayhew, a goodhearted man with a dull life. His life eventually changes one night, when he and his fiancee were walking to Ma Maison for a dinner meeting. Richard spots a bleeding girl on the sidewalk, and without hesitation, carries her back home so she could be safe.
Neverwhere's plot twists and turns. Surprises abound. There is never a dull moment in Neverwhere, since it really has some suspenseful parts, humorous situations and a modernized Alice in Wonderland feel. London Below is as real and alive as London Above (or simply London). At times, London Below seems to be a lot more realistic. And without a doubt, it's a lot more exciting than London.
A diverse set of characters are met in Neverwhere. From the confused-but-goes-with-the-flow Richard Mayhew to the deceiving Angel Islington to the somewhat cocky but valuable Marquis De Carabas, Neverwhere floods you with delight. And when you reach the end, you'd be desperate to find out what happens to Richard Mayhew, and you'd get a strong desire to read the book again.
It's by far one of the best books I have ever read.

'To The Future!' : A Meet the Robinsons Movie Review
For years, Disney has been bringing quality family films for the public. From the classic fairytales to the unequalled Toy Story movies, Disney has been a force to be reckoned with. They could do anything, and yet, they could still capture the magic. But for me, no Disney movie is as significant and inspiring as Meet the Robinsons.
Exactly what is the movie all about? A young boy left at the doorstep of an orphanage of some sort who gets rejected after a lot of adoption interviews and dreams of finding his mother again so they'd be one family again. It's pretty ambitious for him, but Cornelius, or usually called as Lewis, doesn't stop. After all, he's a boy genius and can invent some pretty cool things.
Meet the Robinsons is a really great movie. The aspect of the future being filled with innovative gadgets, talking robots, Insta-Buildings and a lot more... It's pretty overwhelming. And these things are all in the movie.
Lewis, after getting rejected by the last couple who interviewed him, was inspired to find his mother, and built a machine he called the "Memory Scanner", which supposedly scans your brain and brings back your memories from the past. He actually succeeds in making the machine, but his plans get destroyed by Doris, a bowler hat. A mysterious boy named Wilbur then tells Lewis that he must go back to the science fair and demonstrate the memory scanner, but Lewis, having enough of the failures he has been experiencing, declines.
What happens next, you must see for yourself.
This is one of the greatest movies ever. An inspiring story, a diverse set of characters... everything. Definitely worth watching.

Share My Wit, My Illusion.
Hey. I'm Acer Neverwhere. And it's, of course, not my real name. I've been under the name 'Acer Jelly', but I forgot the password to my blog. Yes, I'm that stupid.
Anyway, here I am again, starting yet another new blog. Hopefully, I won't forget the password or the e-mail. I've actually thrown away all the spamming things (at least, I think I threw away the spam shots), and I'm really ready to do something productive for my blog.
I've been trying to write some short fics all inspired by Neil Gaiman, listening more to music, reading more Gaiman books, and trying to learn to play the guitar.
Anyway, this is just the introduction or the first post of this blog.
Well, hope you enjoy reading my things here.
